Hal du Pont

It is with great sadness, du Pont/Krieghoff announces the passing of Hal du Pont - a great man, leader, father, and friend.

In 1955 Hal founded du Pont/Krieghoff out of a lifelong love of the shooting sports. What began out of Hal's family hunting excursions grew the great quest for accuracy and consistency that is competitive clay target shooting. Partnering and developing the perfect shotgun with Krieghoff in Germany was the catalyst to bringing fine German engineering to hungry clay target shooters across America.

Hal was so proud of the K-32 and all the capabilities it had to offer; he personally drove, or flew, these shotguns that were often in 4 barrel sets to eager shooters nationwide. The success of the Krieghoff model 32 was as great as Hal's love of the sport. It continues today, with that same spirit.

His love of shotgun shooting led to decades of involvement with the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) as a competitor and in numerous positions of governance representing Florida and Zone 4, and eventually serving as NSSA President from 1986-1990. During his tenure as President, he was the driving force to create the new National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) as a division of NSSA. He then served in various positions on the NSCA Advisory and Executive Councils as well as serving for many years as the Western Hemisphere Vice President for the World FITASC Organization.

After 50 years at the top of the industry, Hal made the ultimate sales pitch. It was time to groom the next generation of du Pont/Krieghoff Arms Dealer - Kemble du Pont.

Hal's legacy in our industry is one of service, commitment to excellence, divine customer service, and loyalty. As a part of our du Pont/Krieghoff family, we would love to hear your stories of how Hal impacted your life and your shooting.

Hal will forever be missed but never forgotten.
